The Enterprise Exhibition is the first event of its kind to bring UK Businesses and Entrepreneurs from the African Diaspora to Nigeria on a trade mission/exhibition.
Through partnership with Key Stakeholders and Government Agencies in Nigeria and within the identified Diasporan Communities, the event aims to provide a framework that will support international trade between Nigeria and the rest of the World whilst fast-tracking the integration of Nigerian businesses into the Global business community through collaborations and partnerships across Continents.
The inaugural event took place in September 2007 in Lagos, Nigeria, hosting 50 UK based Foreign Investors and Entrepreneurs from the African Diaspora from the UK and Nigerian businesses at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
The 2nd Exhibition took place in September 2008 in Lagos at the same venue, with over 70 UK and Nigerian businesses across various sectors taking part in the Exhibition. The 2008 event provided a suitable platform for the promotion and showcasing of the variety of goods that are made in Nigeria through the support of 5 State Governments, Compass Consulting was able to showcase a representation of different goods and produces from a variety of regions for which suitable export markets can be identified through the networks provided by the Enterprise Exhibition. The event also witnessed the attendance of senior dignitaries from Nigeria and the UK such as Ms Evelyn Oputu, Managing Director, Bank of Industry, Nigeria; Mr. Andrew Cahn, CEO, UK Trade and Investment; Mr. Bob Dewar, British High Commissioner to Nigeria; and Mr. Peter Stephenson, Director UK Trade and Investment - Nigeria.
The 3rd Exhibition which took place in September 2009 in Abuja and Lagos; brought the international business communities in touch with the vibrant and diverse Nigerian business communities, particularly in the Northern Part of Nigeria. As a testimony of the viability of this initiative, we are increasingly attracting the support of new partners; in 2009, we secured European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support the Diasporan businesses coming from the UK; whilst also attracting the interest and collaboration of key Stakeholders in Nigeria such as the Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, Lagos State Ministry for Waterfront Infractructural Development and the Ministry for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, to name but a few.
